Joliet man charged with murder in fatal shooting of Walmart employee inside store

People were being told to avoid part of the University of Illinois Chicago campus Wednesday afternoon as police activity was reported in a student center building. An alert from the school said police activity was reported around 12:40 p.m. at 750 S. Halsted St. on the second floor of the building, which is the Student Center East Tower. Authorities are responding. Avoid the area until further notice, the alert stated. Around 1:30 p.m., the school said it was evacuating the building.
