Oregon City Council fills vacant seat following closed session — Elgin Government news

The Oregon City Council has a new member.Tom Pacey was appointed Tuesday, Oct. 27, from a field of four candidates to replace Tim Krug, who submitted his resignation Oct. 9. Krug had served as a council member for six years and resigned “to focus on family and business.”Pacey’s selection was made following an executive session during which Mayor Ken Williams and the remaining three council members interviewed the four Oregon residents who had submitted applications to fill the seat until the next election in April.Pacey, along with former council member Kurt Wilson, retired policeman Randy Cropp, and Veronica Matthews, submitted their names for consideration.Pacey was chosen in a 4-0 unanimous vote. He has served as a member of the city’s Sustainability Ad Hoc Committee that aids the City’s Sustainability Committee. That committee addresses sustainability within five identified themes – city operations, community-wide efforts, policy, development and land use, and education.Darin DeHaan
